Alexander Calder was a genius artist & one of the pioneers of Kinetic Art . He was a member of the Abstraction-Création creative collective in Paris & said to be a close friend of Joan Mirò.

Although he is most known for being the originator of the mobile (moving sculpture that is, not the phone) I first got to know him through his miniature Cirque Calder, which he created with found objects in the 1920’s while living in Paris.

watch part 2 here.

The Cirque Calder is part of the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum in New York.
